My Favorite Things: 5 Ways to Bring the Fire Element into Your Space

Welcome to My Favorite Things! Each month (every few weeks during the Five Elements podcast series), we highlight products to help you create a holistic lifestyle that inspires and nurtures you, so that you can be happier and feel supported.

This is the final My Favorite Things post for the five elements series, focused on the Fire element. As always, be sure to check in with the corresponding podcast, Feng Shui and the Fire Element! The Fire element is all about passion and putting your heart into things, so get ready to add some passion to your space, within balance, of course!

Fire Energy Yantra Mandalas

One of my favorite ways to add some Fire to a space is with a mandala. The Mars yantra is an ideal addition to balance Fire, since it contains the color red, triangular shapes and is related to the planet Mars, which represents the Fire element in many ways.

I have this very mandala hanging above my desk to invoke fire and passion in my work!

You can also use the Durga yantra mandala, which represents the Hindu goddess Durga, who creates destruction for the sake of universal harmony. The Durga mandala also includes overlapping triangles, which relate to the Fire element.

Ventless Fireplace

Another great way to add some Fire element into your home is, well, fire! As a New York designer, it's common that I find clients who would love a fire place but don't have proper ventilation abilities. These ventless fireplaces are perfect!

Ventless fireplaces are a great option for adding a fireplace to your space. They provide the light and heat of a real fire, and thus the Fire element, even if a real fire isn't a possibility!

Wallpaper with Fire Elements

Wallpaper is coming back into style, and it's the perfect way to balance the Fire in your space!

This particular pattern works because it includes triangles, which are symbolic of the Fire element, as well as copper, which is a more red-toned metal. Red is the color for the Fire element!

I love that this paper includes such interesting and beautiful shapes but is still primarily white. It's the ideal pop of color to balance a room!

Geometric Pillow Case with Triangles

If you're not ready to cover your entire wall with geometric, triangular designs, try a smaller route first.

I love this pillow case from Anichai, and it's a great way to balance the Fire element in your space, whether you toss it on your sofa or your bed. In fact, pillows in general are a great way to add an element or accent to your home. They're easy to add, and easy to remove if they go out of style!

Not only is the handmade pillowcase covered with triangles, some of them are colored red as well. It's a pillowcase made for the Fire element! If you want to take it a step further, look for a triangular shaped pillow to balance your Fire element with style!

Red Flowers

I'm a huge fan of bringing nature inside, whether it's potted, living plants or fresh cut flowers. If your Fire element is unbalanced, opt for fresh red flowers!

Depending on where you need the boost of vigor in your life, you can place red flowers on your nightstand (for passion in the bedroom), in the Recognition area of your desk (for enthusiasm at work), in your entry (for an overall zeal for life) or even on your dining room table, especially if it's in the Recognition area of your home!

From poppies to roses to peonies, amaryllis, tulips and more, it's easy to find red flowers in almost any season, and they look great in almost any space!
